Form Guidance for new applicants
(Existing users who are renewing can also update address and payment details, etc.)
Please ensure you have selected the correct membership level. If it is not you can go back to the Membership Levels page and reselect. Apart from the Life options, all levels are payable annually.
You can optionally add a gift amount to add to your initial subscription.
Because this is now an online membership system you need to give yourself a Username and Password so you can return to it at any time (for example to update your address or email).
The Username must to be unique to you and easy to remember so we suggest you use your surname followed by your birthday – eg: if you are John Smith born on 9th March you could use smith0903. No spaces allowed.
You also need a Password. This can be letters, numbers and other characters. It should be at least 8 characters long and have at least one number and one upper-case letter – eg Ky23-us7D. Again no spaces allowed. Keep these safe.
Now enter your Title, First Name and Last Name
If you have selected Joint Membership you will also be able to enter the name of the second person.
Ideally we would like all contact with you to be by email as this results in a very significant saving in our costs so please select Yes in the Contact by Email box if you are happy for this to be the case.

Gift Aid
If you are a UK taxpayer your membership fee qualifies for Gift Aid. This allows us to claim an extra £0.25 for every £1 from the UK Government. For this to happen we must have your name, first line of address and postcode as known by HMRC so please ensure the billing information below is correct in that respect.
Automatic Renewal
If you are not applying for Life membership, your membership expires after 12 months unless you renew it before the end of the period. You can set this to automatically renew. If you do this and pay by credit/debit card your membership will renew automatically every year until you cancel. If you pay by cheque or bank transfer and we don’t receive payment within 30 days of the renewal date your membership will be cancelled.
Payment
Our preferred payment option is by debit or credit card as this greatly minimises the administration requirements.
We ask for name again here as sometimes the person paying is not the member. This name and address will be used for all payment enquiries.
If paying by card please ensure the address matches that for the card otherwise the payment may be rejected by your card provider.
Your card details will be held securely by Stripe, our card processor. If you have selected to renew automatically this card will be used for future payments. When your card approaches its expiry date you will be asked to update it. We do not ourselves store the full details of your card.
