Cragside: Britain’s original smart home – a pioneering Arts and Crafts mansion filled with the latest Victorian inventions for efficient, modern living, which sits at the heart of a grand fantasy garden. The house was built in stages by Richard Norman Shaw, so it has connections with Sidney Barnsley and W R Lethaby who worked for Shaw, and is a very good example of the architecture of the generation just before Gimson and the Barnsleys. Richly decorated with good late 19th-century pieces
